Meet Zeus & Gryphon

John Allen was always fascinated with birds of prey since a very young age. In 2006, he met a local falconer, which sparked his interest in the sport of falconry. He took a course in Quebec to see if falconry was for him and immediately decided that it was. The local falconer, who he had met earlier that year, agreed to sponsor his falconry apprenticeship. He received his first bird, a male Harris Hawk named Gryphon, and began his hunting with a raptor.

They became a successful team, and still hunt together to this day. He was approached by several businesses over the years to perform nuisance bird control with his birds of prey; and he formed a business named, Gryphon Bird Control. Although he does use his birds for nuisance bird abatement, he still maintains a hunting perspective with them and continues to hunt with them so they can do what they are meant to do.

His greatest pleasure in falconry comes from watching them do what comes naturally to them, and joining them as a hunting team.
